Thomas Hummel gives here an account of his practice as a music and computing specialist, which coincides with many of Harry Lehmann’s theses in the debate around the «dis-instutionalisation» of new music. According to him, innovations in contemporary music appear as the consequence of a lack of performance occasions. Claus-Steffen Mahnkopf’s opposite positions in this debate are accordingly criticised.
